BAGUIO CITY:City officials are requesting the management of the Baguio Teachers' Camp to allow motor vehicles coming from Leonard Wood Road to traverse the training center and events venue exiting South Drive to help ease the worsening traffic along some major roads in the area.

Under Resolution 337, series of 2022, local legislators pointed out that the issue of traffic congestion around the city has been a major complaint by both residents and tourists.

The council pointed out that there is a need to come up with possible solutions such as opening more access roads leading to and from the central business district area, especially with the start of the implementation of face-to-face classes this school year.

The council disclosed that the access route from Leonard Wood Road traversing the Baguio Teachers' Camp and exiting South Drive serves as an alternate route for motorists to ease traffic congestion within the area, especially during rush hours and the surge of visitors. However, it was closed down during the pandemic because the Teachers' Camp was used as a Covid quarantine facility and triage unit.

On March 31, the Baguio Teachers' Camp temporary treatment and monitoring facility and temporary quarantine facility ceased operations to pave the way for the use of the facilities for the training requirements of educators in preparation for the scheduled opening of classes that started on August 22.
